Our program offers diverse opportunities, from examining silent films and the James Bond series to investigating contemporary Asian-British cinema, all while enhancing your filmmaking abilities and understanding cinema's cultural and political impact.

Bridging academic concepts with real-world application

You'll investigate film history and assess movies' societal influence. Our comprehensive curriculum covers Hollywood alongside international cinema, as well as the evolution of film and graphic novels.

Simultaneously, you'll hone practical techniques through our production modules, working on fictional narratives or documentary projects. Participate in our student-run Cut/To film journal, featuring video analyses and exclusive interviews.

Premiere facilities and equipment

We offer industry-standard production tools for creating original content. Access our cinema-grade digital cameras with premium lenses, DSLRs, professional lighting setups, support gear, and Adobe Creative Cloud in our soundproof editing rooms.

Through our collaboration with the British Film Institute, you'll attend exclusive workshops and explore their film archives. We occasionally arrange visits to media hubs like Salford's Media City. Engage with our vibrant film production club or contribute to the student-led Cut/To publication.

Required Subjects Film, Media or one other humanities subject considered desirable but not essential

IELTS 6.5 overall with at least 5.5 in each component. TOEFL IBT - 87 overall, minimum of 17 in listening, 18 in reading, 17 in speaking and 20 in writing, Cambridge English: Advanced CAE 176 overall with at least 162 in each element.
