Lancaster University's Film and Theatre program, delivered by the Lancaster Institute for the Contemporary Arts (LICA), allows students to explore modern theatrical performance while examining film history and theory.
The Film studies component offers a dynamic, thought-provoking curriculum that enables in-depth analysis of cinematic works. Students will investigate movie history, examine films' cultural impact, and master filmmaking techniques. Throughout all three years, participants can create short films while selecting from specialized courses that build skills for graduate studies or careers in media, advertising, and marketing.
The Theatre studies portion introduces students to groundbreaking 20th and 21st century theatrical works through a balanced combination of theory and practice. This program cultivates both analytical and creative abilities valuable for theatre careers, while also preparing graduates for diverse professional opportunities across multiple industries.
