This cutting-edge program examines the connection between criminal behavior and psychological processes. Grounded in current research and blending academic knowledge with practical applications, the program allows students to equally study Criminology and Psychology. With its adaptable curriculum, you can maintain the dual major track or opt for a Psychology specialization (including British Psychological Society accreditation) after your first year.
The program is delivered by internationally recognized, research-focused scholars from our esteemed Law School and Psychology Department. They will guide you through fundamental concepts in both disciplines while encouraging engagement with contemporary, impactful studies. The curriculum leverages departmental strengths in areas like forensic psychology, juvenile justice, cognitive processes, law enforcement, correctional systems, sex industry studies, bias-motivated crimes, addiction research, gender violence, environmental impacts, social welfare, and media influences.
Your initial year will establish foundational knowledge in criminological and psychological principles, covering theories of criminal behavior and group dynamics. The second year expands into diverse criminological frameworks, research methodologies, and elective courses examining current debates in both fields. By your final year, you'll select specialized topics from advanced modules and complete an independent research project focused on a crime-related subject of your choosing.
