This four-year dual degree program merges the exploration of Chinese and German languages and cultures, along with their respective global spheres. It features an international year spent in Chinese- or German-speaking nations, or divided between both. Students will develop advanced linguistic abilities while gaining deep insights into the cultural and social nuances of both regions within a worldwide framework.
Language and cultural studies are delivered through creative, interactive methods. For instance, the Chinese Friendship Project immerses students in social and cultural contexts through diverse activities. Past events have included excursions to Manchester's Chinatown, Chinese culinary workshops, film screenings, and traditional festival observances. Alongside core language courses, students can select from specialized modules covering cultural, historical, and political topics that offer comparative perspectives on these nations globally. First-year students also choose one additional module from related disciplines.
