Qualification Requirements

Standard requirements: A minimum 2:2 undergraduate Bachelor’s (honours) degree. If you have a lower degree classification, or a degree in an unrelated subject, your application may be considered if you can demonstrate significant relevant work experience, or offer a related graduate qualification (such as a Masters or PGDip).

Programme-Specific Requirements: Our PGCE programmes all require a minimum of a bachelor's degree with at least 2:2 honours (or overseas equivalent). A variety of subjects will be acceptable: Single honours English or joint honours (with English as half). Academic theatre studies degrees (but candidates have to make up the gaps in subject knowledge during the course of the year). Communications, media or linguistic degrees, depending on what the degree entailed (in particular, any substantial amount of textual examination). Those candidates whose first degree is not in English will need to demonstrate significant literature subject knowledge within their application. Overseas students will be required to demonstrate IELTS of 7.0 overall with a minimum of 6.5 in each skill. TOEFL IBT 100 overall with a minimum of 25 in writing and 23  in each of the other skills.
