The PGCE Chemistry program at King's equips future educators to become innovative, reflective, and inspiring teachers by combining cutting-edge pedagogical research with diverse teaching methodologies. Our internationally renowned science education faculty, with over 30 years of distinguished research, delivers this comprehensive program. Key advantages include: Our PGCE programs have received Ofsted's Outstanding rating, supported by robust research foundations. The department was recognized as London's top education research institution in the latest assessment (REF 2021). We maintain collaborative relationships with numerous schools across London and beyond, offering exceptional opportunities to teach diverse student populations. The program includes outdoor education components like residential field trips and utilizes London's rich educational resources, from the South Bank to the Natural History Museum. Notably, 92% of our PGCE graduates secured teaching positions as Early Career Teachers in UK and international schools (JISC 2024). The program awards 60 Master's-level credits through two coursework assessments - equivalent to one-third of an MA degree - providing significant progress toward advanced qualifications. This full-time, ten-month program (September-June) comprises four core modules and two teaching placements in London-area secondary schools. The 120-credit curriculum blends university and school-based learning in pedagogy, professional development, and subject-specific teaching methods, culminating in Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) accreditation. Career prospects: Most graduates enter teaching or educational leadership, with many advancing to departmental or senior management roles, while others pursue careers in educational policy, advisory services, or inspection.
