King's Business School is now accepting applications for both full-time and part-time Management Studies programs commencing in October 2025. We encourage qualified applicants from both Home and International fee categories who demonstrate exceptional talent and passion for becoming future leaders in their chosen academic disciplines. The School welcomes candidates across all our research specializations, including:
Accounting & Financial Management
Banking & Finance
Economics
Human Resource Management
Marketing
Public Services Management & Organisation
Strategy, International Management & Entrepreneurship
Upon successful completion, graduates will receive a PhD designation specific to their field, such as "PhD in Economics" or "PhD in Marketing." All doctoral candidates initially enroll in an MPhil program. During the early stages, students collaborate with supervisors to identify training requirements and create a customized development plan, utilizing resources from the School, King's Centre for Doctoral Studies, and the London Interdisciplinary Social Science Doctoral Training Partnership (LISS-DTP). This tailored approach ensures students acquire both fundamental and advanced skills necessary for their research projects.
After approximately 12 months (or equivalent for part-time students), candidates undergo a formal upgrade assessment to PhD status. This evaluation examines a comprehensive document demonstrating: (1) identification of an original research question, and (2) capability to complete the project within the designated timeframe.
Throughout the program, students receive guidance from two academic supervisors who provide expert advice on research progress. The PhD culminates in a thesis of up to 100,000 words, with full-time students required to submit within four years and part-time students within seven years of registration.
