The Dickson Poon School of Law strives to cultivate a dynamic research environment that serves as a hub for interdisciplinary, transnational legal studies. Our approach facilitates the exchange of ideas across established fields while integrating a fresh global outlook. As one of the few law schools worldwide adopting this transnational methodology, we champion groundbreaking research that addresses worldwide concerns in areas like individual accountability, healthcare, economic systems, fairness, information exchange, and administration. The Dickson Poon School of Law hosts numerous prestigious research centers that actively shape legal and public debates on pressing contemporary matters. Your doctoral research might naturally connect with one of our specialized centers or groups, offering chances to participate in their initiatives. Our research hubs include: the Centre of Construction Law & Dispute Resolution, Centre for Climate Law and Governance, Centre of European Law, Global Investor Stewardship, Centre for International Governance and Dispute Resolution (CIGAD), Centre of Medical Law and Ethics, the Centre for Technology, Ethics, Law and Society (TELOS), Transnational Law Institute (TLI), and The Yeoh Tiong Lay Centre for Politics, Philosophy and Law (YTL). Our diverse PhD community, representing various global regions, explores subjects spanning copyright law to digital innovation, antitrust regulations to opposing statutes, and universal fairness to women's rights. Program specifics Our PhD program outline, including progression milestones and student experience details, is available on our dedicated course page. We accept new students exclusively in October each year, with no January admissions currently available. Prospective candidates must secure commitment from a potential primary supervisor within our faculty before applying. Applications lacking confirmed supervision arrangements will not be reviewed. Consult our faculty directory to locate suitable academic specialists. IMPORTANT: Visiting faculty cannot serve as supervisors. Ensure you obtain explicit support from your proposed supervisor before applying, as applications submitted without this confirmation may be declined. While most research students enroll full-time, we may consider part-time study in special cases. To request part-time status, select the full-time option during application and be ready to justify your request during the interview process.
