Keele University's Chemical Sciences department hosts several world-renowned research teams. Our researchers maintain strong collaborative relationships with both academic institutions and industry partners across the UK and internationally. Notable partnerships include the Institut Laue-Langevin (ILL) in Grenoble, France - the global leader in neutron science, and pharmaceutical giant AstraZeneca. The Birchall Centre brings together scholars specializing in inorganic chemistry and materials science, with research spanning diverse areas from sustainable energy and bioinorganic chemistry to catalysis, polymers, porous materials, and surface science. This interdisciplinary hub creates a dynamic environment where fundamental research and practical applications mutually enhance each other. Please note: Under current UK visa rules, international fee-status students are typically required to enroll full-time unless pursuing distance learning programs.
Students require an Honours degree with a first or 2.1 classifications, or the equivalent if you have been educated outside the UK. Any other academic and/or professional qualifications you may have are also considered, and in some cases form an integral part of the entrance requirement. IELTS: 6.5 with 6.0 in all components. TOEFL IBT: 87 with 19 (writing), 19 (listening), 19 (reading) and 20 (speaking).
