Essential pharmacy competencies Our curriculum covers how medications treat illnesses and human physiology, while emphasizing prescribing expertise and clinical abilities. You'll also hone communication skills to interact confidently with patients and collaborate within healthcare teams. The program builds a strong foundation in biology and chemistry, advancing through each year. Key topics include pharmacology (drug mechanisms), pharmaceutics (medication formulation), and therapeutics (diagnosis and treatment approaches). Practical experience Throughout the four-year MPharm, you'll gain hands-on experience across multiple pharmacy environments. The program includes approximately 30 weeks of placements (exceeding sector standards) in community, primary care, and hospital settings. These practical experiences integrate with campus learning, helping you meet all educational objectives while shaping your career path. Placement involvement grows progressively during your Keele studies. Foundation Year option Our Foundation Year offers an alternative entry pathway to Keele, giving you additional preparation for degree-level study while guaranteeing progression to your undergraduate course upon successful completion. This preparatory year enhances academic skills, deepens subject knowledge, familiarizes you with university life, and most importantly, boosts your confidence. Career prospects 95% of Keele graduates secure employment or continue education within 15 months of completing their studies (HESA Graduate Outcomes, 2019/20) After graduation, you'll complete a mandatory Foundation training year and pass the General Pharmaceutical Council's registration assessment to qualify as a pharmacist. Starting 2025, graduates will enter Foundation training that leads to dual registration as both pharmacist and independent prescriber.

A Level - ABB in three A Levels including B in Biology or Chemistry, Contextual Offer BBB in three A Levels including B in Biology or Chemistry. You will also need 6 / B in GCSE Maths or Level 3 Functional Skills Maths, plus an English language qualification. Access to HE Diploma - 128 UCAS points in an Access to HE Diploma with Biology or Chemistry related content, including Distinction in at least 30 Level 3 credits and Merit in at least 15 Level 3 credits.
