The Philosophy and Politics program examines our interpretations and views of global occurrences and concepts. You'll investigate significant topics and inquiries that shape daily existence, analyzing government choices along with discussions about customs and regulations to develop a critical perspective. This Keele University program addresses fundamental ethical dilemmas, human existence, the essence of reality, and examines authority, governance, and societal frameworks.

Philosophy studies involve analyzing texts, contemplating concepts, and developing personal philosophical viewpoints. You'll examine core subjects including ethics, political philosophy, reasoning, knowledge theory, and examinations of consciousness, spirituality, and scientific inquiry, while evaluating fundamental philosophical inquiries about existence, cognition, and potential resolutions.

You'll discover diverse philosophical schools from various eras and cultures, encompassing Western analytical traditions, Eastern thought systems, and European philosophical movements. This cultivates enhanced reasoning abilities and persuasive argumentation techniques while identifying flawed logic in discussions.

Keele's Politics curriculum examines social structures and the influences that mold them, addressing authority, fairness, disputes, validity, responsibility, and administration. You'll investigate political disillusionment, democratic principles, protest justification, and governmental system impacts. The flexible program allows specialization in theoretical, historical, or issue-focused approaches.

Our Social, Political and Global Studies faculty conduct cutting-edge research in environmental policy, transatlantic relations, and global affairs. The customizable curriculum lets you focus on preferred subjects, preparing for diverse post-graduate opportunities.
