Our innovative Sport, Exercise and Health Sciences program explores diverse areas from athletic performance to wellbeing, equipping you with the expertise and drive to excel in various fields. At Birmingham, we're convinced that studying the science of sports and exercise doesn't just improve elite athletic achievement, but also tackles major global issues like obesity, sedentary lifestyles, and age-related health decline.
Whatever your personal passions or career goals, you can customize your academic journey with approximately 14 dynamic module options. Your education will span hands-on lab work in our state-of-the-art Sport, Exercise and Rehabilitation Sciences center to community initiatives throughout our vibrant city. These opportunities will cultivate both scientific knowledge and practical implementation skills. Strength and Conditioning Initiative - Annually, up to ten chosen students (through an application process) help deliver Strength & Conditioning (S&C) support to our top-tier sports teams including football, rugby, netball, and hockey. Participants are paired with specific teams and their head S&C coach at season start, assisting with gym sessions, field training, and performance assessments. Interns contribute 50-60 hours of support, acquiring invaluable real-world experience in sports settings - a significant career advantage.
