Our Intercultural Research at Heriot-Watt examines the connections between cultures. We aim to deepen comprehension of cross-cultural interactions across multiple dimensions, such as subcultures, gender-based cultures, and language communities. Another central focus involves exploring how people experience and articulate life within or across diverse cultures, identities, communities, or languages.

At the heart of this work lies our Intercultural Research Centre (IRC), which tackles pressing intercultural challenges in our evolving global landscape. The IRC specializes in comparative studies that highlight practical applications of culture - with culture interpreted broadly through an anthropological lens.
