The Institute of Biological Chemistry, Biophysics and Bioengineering (IB3) specializes in leveraging breakthroughs from chemical, physical, and engineering disciplines to support and advance life science investigations. Our diverse team of researchers and cutting-edge infrastructure create an exceptional, dynamic setting for comprehensive scientific exploration.
Biologists, physicists, chemists, engineers, and mathematicians collaborate to improve data collection techniques and optimize information retrieval. We lead and contribute to significant educational, investigative, and resource-sharing initiatives such as the Edinburgh Super-Resolution Imaging Consortium, the Multiplexed Touch and Tell Optical Molecular Sensing and Imaging Interdisciplinary Research Center, along with joint ventures involving synthetic blood production from stem cells, novel diagnostic tools, fetal DNA isolation methods, cancer research, diabetes studies, rapid biological imaging techniques, and 3D bioprinting of stem cells.
