The team specializes in applied Quaternary geology and geomorphology, particularly concerning coastal and estuarine management. Our work extends to utilizing Quaternary geology for infrastructure engineering and studying natural material properties. Present investigations concentrate on estuarine clay characteristics and the physical/biological influences shaping them. Additionally, we explore intertidal habitat restoration on reclaimed lands affected by shoreline adjustments. Broadly, we examine coastal transformation processes, their timelines, and effects on human coastal activities. Field research is continuously carried out across UK estuaries such as the Humber, Forth, Moray Firth, and Solway Firth.
