Yet a significant portion remains untapped, with average recovery rates below 20% of the total oil present. Even a modest improvement of 1-2% in extraction efficiency could dramatically boost worldwide hydrocarbon supplies. Given their critical role, enhancing flow forecasting and extraction methods in carbonate reservoirs stands as one of the most impactful advancements anticipated for the petroleum sector in the coming years.
