The MEng (Hons) Mechanical Engineering program inspires innovative thinking to tackle global challenges. Mechanical engineers are in demand across diverse sectors, from enhancing energy systems to developing precision surgical instruments. This undergraduate program provides a solid foundation in engineering theory and practical methodologies, focusing on design and analytical applications. You'll use your technical knowledge and problem-solving abilities to create novel solutions for society's pressing issues. The curriculum includes industry visits and offers an optional work placement, leading to a Diploma in Industrial Training (DIT) upon completion. Hands-on projects and practical applications throughout the course ensure you acquire industry-relevant skills. The program covers fundamental mechanical engineering disciplines such as mechanics, electrical systems, mathematics, fluid dynamics, material science, thermodynamics, and sustainable practices. You can select specialized modules to align with your academic interests and professional goals. With sustainability as a central theme, you'll learn to develop solutions that balance environmental, economic, and social factors. Potential applications include renewable energy systems, efficient heating technologies, transportation improvements, and medical advancements. Alongside technical expertise, you'll cultivate essential professional skills through individual and collaborative projects, including teamwork, presentation techniques, and technical communication. Business modules address crucial global considerations like sustainable product development and financial feasibility. This five-year MEng program serves as the primary pathway to achieving Chartered Engineer status.

As our programmes are taught and assessed in English, applicants must be able to prove their level of English language ability as part of the application process. This should be shown through one of the following means - You are from a majority English speaking country or have completed a qualification equivalent to a UK degree from a majority English speaking country as defined by UK Visas & Immigration (UKVI). You have successfully completed a degree from a UK University within the last two academic years where all study has taken place in the UK or at an overseas campus in a non-majority English speaking country as defined by the UKVI, then we will consider this on a case-by-case basis. Our decision will be made on a variety of factors including length of study, level of study, subject relevance, nature of degree and time since completion (no longer than two academic years). You have passed one of the following English Language Tests within the last 2 years at the levels indicated (we will need to verify the results of the test and as such you will need to upload your original certificate as part of the application process). IELTS Academic 6.0 with no score lower than 5.5. TOEFL iBT 79 (including reading 18, listening 17, speaking 20, and writing 21).
