This intensive three-year program is designed for students who have completed A-Levels. Economics examines how individuals, businesses, and governments make decisions, influencing how resources are allocated throughout society. The discipline provides insights to enhance decision-making at personal, organizational, and societal levels, while addressing diverse challenges including environmental concerns, joblessness, price increases, inequality, internationalization, and commerce. Our Economics program cultivates the necessary abilities to explore, evaluate, and address these complex issues. As you advance through each year of this fast-track MA (Hons) curriculum, you'll delve deeper into specialized economic subjects. The adaptable program structure allows you to customize your education according to your specific interests. You'll gain comprehensive quantitative, analytical, and communication competencies, preparing you for diverse career opportunities in commerce, administration, sales, financial institutions, investment sectors, policy evaluation, government service, research, and beyond. Your education will be supported by distinguished economists who develop and deliver courses with international perspectives and practical applications, drawing directly from their investigations into worldwide economic challenges. The curriculum starts with foundational concepts, requiring no prior economics background. During your studies, you'll have chances to hone academic abilities, pursue career preparation, and participate in self-reflective learning. Graduates will be well-prepared to enter fields including banking, corporate leadership, government roles, and advanced academic pursuits.
As this is an accelerated programme, entry is only available for Year 2 - A-level ABB - AAA including Maths, OR A-level ABB -AAA including one of Accounting, Business, Economics AND AS Level Maths at C. Pearson BTEC Level 3 National Extended Diploma (first teaching from September 2016) DDD in relevant subject (Accountancy, Business, Economics, Finance preferred). Advanced Higher BB with AABB at Higher to include Maths. International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme 34 points including Maths or Economics at Higher Level 5. Scottish HND Pass HND (Accounting or Business) with BB in graded units. Please check that you meet our University-wide National 5/GCSE (or equivalent). If your first language is not English, we'll need to see evidence of your English language ability. The minimum English language requirement for entry to this programme is IELTS 6.0 (or equivalent) with no score lower than 5.5. TOEFL iBT: 79 (including reading 18, listening 17, speaking 20, and writing 21).
