This two-year, interdisciplinary program holds dual importance. Spanning two years, it provides students ample time to thoroughly examine their creative work, refine it, and establish a solid foundation. The interdisciplinary setting further enhances this process by fostering critical analysis that leads to more meaningful artistic growth.
MFA candidates both benefit from and enrich the program's curriculum, their fellow students' experiences, and Glasgow's broader arts scene. This environment highly values self-directed learning, resourcefulness, innovation, and creative problem-solving.
Participants refine their methods to pursue their unique artistic visions and scholarly goals, which typically blend aesthetic, technical, conceptual, and theoretical elements. Individual research projects prompt students to situate their work within broader cultural, historical, and theoretical frameworks. Regular sessions with core faculty and visiting specialists offer valuable critique opportunities, while group discussions provide additional perspectives on their evolving practice.
