Our research focuses span Medieval poetry, drama, mythology, and romance, along with English literature from the 18th and 19th centuries, American literary works, 20th-century poetry and fiction, and critical theory. We particularly welcome applications specializing in: Classical Text Reception, Medieval Literature and cultural studies, Renaissance Literature, Romantic-era poetry, fiction, political discourse and aesthetic philosophy, Victorian and Edwardian literature, Postmodernism, literary interpretation and authorship concepts, as well as 20th-century British, Irish, and American poetry and fiction.

Qualification Requirements

Students will normally require a good honours degree (at least a 2:1) or its equivalent from a recognised University, and (for the MLitt or PhD) a Masters degree from a recognised University; When submitting application for one of our research programmes students will need to include a piece of written work approximately 1,200 words in length on a literary subject. This can be any piece of work you have completed during the last year or two. Students need to have: IELTS: 7.0 with no component under 7.0; TOEFL iBT: 102 (writing 27, no component under 25); 185 (minimum of 185 per component) in Cambridge Scale (CPE or CAE); Pearson Academic (PTE): 70 (with no less than 70 in each Communicative Skill).
