This course provides an overview of Geography as a subject within the 11-16 curriculum, enhancing both subject expertise and teaching methods. You'll study proven strategies used by skilled educators to engage students from diverse backgrounds and make geographical concepts come alive.
The program teaches you how to foster critical thinking about our world while creatively developing students' grasp of key geographical principles. These include spatial relationships, environmental influences on societies, and humanity's growing impact on natural systems.
Upon completing the PGCE, you'll earn a Postgraduate Certificate in Education from Durham University and qualify for QTS (Qualified Teacher Status). Newcastle University accredits the QTS component, which is conferred by the Department of Education.
