This rigorous degree program elevates your Mathematics and Statistics education to a Master's qualification. Perfect for those pursuing advanced studies or careers demanding exceptional quantitative abilities and research expertise.

The MMath integrates fundamental mathematical principles with cutting-edge statistical and machine learning advancements, equipping you for success in today's data-centric professional environments. The initial two years mirror the BSc curriculum structure, while years three and four introduce more advanced modules that delve deeper into complex mathematical and statistical methodologies.

Instruction takes place in modern, specially designed facilities tailored to support the Department's students in their learning and research activities. You'll learn from accomplished mathematicians and statisticians with extensive industry and academic research backgrounds. The Department hosts several research groups specializing in both theoretical and practical mathematics, with faculty members actively engaged in research - offering numerous opportunities to connect coursework with innovative research applications.

The program commences with a comprehensive introduction to pure and applied mathematics, statistics, and probability, establishing a robust base for specialized study in later years. The curriculum progressively emphasizes statistical applications during the second and third years.

Your final year features an extensive double-module project. Options include an independent theoretical or applied research project, or an internship-based statistics and machine learning project addressing real-world challenges. Both formats allow collaboration with external organizations, providing practical experience to enhance your academic qualifications.
