This program is crafted to equip you with the expertise and abilities needed to seamlessly integrate into engineering teams upon graduation. It serves as an alternative to Durham's four-year MEng, with the option to transfer between these courses until the conclusion of your second year.
During the initial two years, the BEng curriculum mirrors the comprehensive engineering foundation of the MEng program. Your third year then focuses on Mechanical Engineering specialization. The course design provides exceptional adaptability—you might begin with an electronic engineering track but switch to mechanical engineering after your second year. We prioritize giving students the autonomy to make well-informed choices. The BEng sets you up for a dynamic career in contemporary engineering, with the agility to adapt to evolving technologies.
You may have the chance to study abroad or undertake an industrial placement as an additional year between your second and third years. A standout feature is the final-year Engineering Project, where you'll collaborate individually with an academic specialist to tackle a complex engineering problem.
