Our History program stands out as one of the nation's most diverse and engaging academic offerings. Students journey through history from the fall of Rome to modern times, revisiting familiar eras with fresh perspectives while discovering completely new historical landscapes. The curriculum spans innovative themes including environmental studies, scientific developments, visual culture, and gender studies, while developing analytical and communication skills highly valued across professions.
The first year serves as an introduction to advanced historical research, exposing students to various historical periods and methodologies that showcase humanity's rich tapestry.
Second year delves deeper into specialized historical frameworks, honing students' understanding of historiography and strengthening their ability to construct comprehensive historical narratives. Students may opt to extend their studies through international exchange programs or professional placements, expanding the program to four years.
The final year emphasizes independent scholarship, culminating in a dissertation that allows students to focus on their particular historical passions and emerge as self-directed researchers.
The department fosters intellectual growth through a vibrant schedule of research colloquia and distinguished guest lectures open to all students.
