This program provides a comprehensive introduction to archaeology while enabling specialized study of Europe's, the Near East's, and Asia's major ancient civilizations, such as Ancient Greece, Rome, Egypt, India, Sri Lanka, and Nepal.
The degree features exceptional flexibility, permitting students to select courses from other disciplines like Classics and Ancient History. Certain module combinations may even qualify you for professional certification from the Chartered Institute for Archaeologists.
Through archaeological methods and perspectives, this program examines the cultural legacy of Greece and Rome. Incorporating current research, it also explores Egypt, North Africa, and the often-overlooked societies of the Near East and South Asia. Students will experience an engaging combination of academic study and practical fieldwork.
An optional international study component allows participants to spend their third year abroad in a four-year program. Additionally, students can gain hands-on experience by opting to include a placement year in their studies.
