Our multidisciplinary Design and New Product Development team specializes in creating sustainable solutions across diverse product categories. Through practice-driven research, we partner with both commercial and public sector organizations to pioneer innovative approaches.
We integrate sustainable technologies, digital fabrication methods, design history and theory, and spatial design principles, concentrating on product design, furniture and interiors, fashion and footwear, craft disciplines, and design's societal impacts. Core research themes encompass industrial design solutions, packaging innovations, design history and cultural studies, along with retail, consumer behavior and technological integration.
The Textile Engineering and Materials division conducts cross-disciplinary research across four primary domains: textile manufacturing processes, sustainable enzymatic technologies, agricultural and natural fiber applications, and advanced material development. Our specialists work with cutting-edge textiles, nanotechnology applications, intelligent wearable systems, eco-friendly fabrics, aerospace textiles, and protective gear solutions.
Our applied research maintains strong industry connections, collaborating with manufacturers and retailers to prototype and evaluate novel products while offering strategic guidance for global market expansion. Equipped with advanced textile testing capabilities, our facilities perform comprehensive evaluations including antimicrobial properties, flame resistance, wear comfort, laundering effects, durability, and environmental resilience assessments.
