OverviewOur Criminal Investigation and Policing Studies program equips students with the essential skills for ethical professional practice. This course is perfect for those interested in exploring policing and criminal investigation without necessarily aiming for a police service career.The curriculum fosters deep knowledge and understanding, cultivating advanced critical thinking, decision-making, and problem-solving abilities, along with the key competencies needed for criminal investigators in both public justice systems and private organizations.Instruction is delivered by experienced policing and criminology academics with substantial real-world expertise in criminal justice. The diverse modules are carefully designed to meet the specific demands of a career in criminal investigation.During the first year, students will take three modules alongside criminology students, offering alternative viewpoints on policing with greater emphasis on the root causes of crime.The second year marks the start of specialization, featuring a dedicated module on leadership and management in criminal investigations. This module continues into the third year with increased intensity and focus. Additionally, students can select two 15-credit elective modules in year two, again shared with criminology students.
If English is not your first language an IELTS score of 6.5 overall is essential.
