We invite those with a strong interest in creative writing, looking to enhance their abilities while discovering fresh talents. Our themed courses encourage experimentation with different formats and techniques, guiding you to produce innovative works shaped by craft expertise, research, critical analysis, and peer input. Rooted in modern performance approaches, academic theory, and theatrical heritage, this program equips you for diverse arts careers. You'll investigate areas such as acting, directing, playwriting, and socially engaged theater while receiving guidance to refine your creative goals. Broaden your career possibilities, from literary pursuits to stage performance, and graduate ready for a multifaceted professional journey. Take advantage of our collaboration with Leicester's renowned Curve theater, providing hands-on learning through internships, performance chances, and skill-building sessions. Experience learning outside traditional settings at venues like Leicester Gallery, museums, archival collections, and our repurposed chapel space. The Centre for Excellence in Performance Arts offers cutting-edge resources, including dedicated studios and practice areas. Participate in writing communities, present at poetry slams, and exhibit work at events like DMU's States of Independence festival. Alumni have found success with theater troupes, in broadcasting, stage production, arts education, and as published writers in multiple genres.
GCSEs Five GCSEs at grade 4 or above including English and Maths Plus one of the following: A levels A minimum of 112 points from at least two A levels. T Levels Merit. BTEC. BTEC National Diploma - Distinction/Merit/Merit. BTEC Extended Diploma - Distinction/Merit/Merit. If English is not your first language, an IELTS score of 6.0 overall with 5.5 in each band (or equivalent) when you start the course is essential.
