At DMU, the English Language with TESOL program lets you explore English Language studies alongside essential principles and practices for Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages.
This program helps you build teaching skills for non-native English speakers while examining how language—especially English—operates in modern society. You'll delve into linguistics, grammar, English language history, and diverse writing forms, alongside learning theories for teaching English as a second language. The course also develops your ability to analyze digital communication and study language using digital tools and techniques.
Through this program, you'll gain strong linguistic and analytical abilities, making you an effective communicator and opening doors to various career paths.

International Baccalaureate: 24+ Points or

Plus five GCSEs grades 9-4 including English Language or Literature at grade 4 or above.
Pass Access with 30 level 3 credits at Merit and GCSE English (Language or Literature) at grade 4 or above.
We will normally require students have had a break from full-time education before undertaking the Access course.
We also accept the BTEC First Diploma plus two GCSEs including English Language or Literature at grade 4 or above

If English is not your first language an IELTS score of 6.0 overall with 5.5 in each band (or equivalent) when you start the course is essential.
