The Sport and Human Performance research theme is part of the Centre for Sport, Exercise and Life Sciences. Our work in this area concentrates on enhancing human performance, endurance, and safety across various contexts including sports, leisure activities, education, workplaces, and exploration environments.
We tackle athletic performance directly by employing needs assessment methods and implementing tailored nutritional, physiological, biomechanical, and psychological approaches for athletes at all levels, from casual participants to top competitors.
Our occupational research (spearheaded by the Occupational and Environmental Physiology Group, OEPG) involves conducting detailed job analyses while collaborating with clients to create customized solutions for specific research challenges.
With broad expertise, we monitor diverse performance metrics, assess training impacts, conduct training research, identify talent, and collaborate with athletes, teams, organizations, and manufacturers to test and improve sports equipment.
