The Centre for Dance Research (C-DaRE) focuses on a comprehensive interdisciplinary method for artistic and academic dance studies, covering fields such as cultural preservation, technology and artificial intelligence, copyright law, health and wellness, and practice-based inquiry.
C-DaRE organizes numerous conferences, symposiums, and research gatherings that draw participants nationwide and globally. Our biennial Dance and Somatic Practices conference serves as a worldwide platform for academics and professionals to exchange innovative ideas through organized sessions, lectures, interactive workshops, and performance showcases. Additionally, we host a distinctive event series called C-DaRE Invites, where each gathering offers a singular experience co-created by our team and guest facilitators. These occasions may feature presentations, lectures, dialogues, practice demonstrations, performances, and film viewings, among other formats. Unless specified otherwise, these events are complimentary and accessible to everyone. Contributors include C-DaRE associates, graduate researchers, and visiting scholars, artists, and institutions. Every session centers on themes connected to the guest's ongoing studies and passions, and whenever feasible, is scheduled around a specific mealtime—breakfast, lunch, or afternoon tea. We view communal dining as an opportunity to foster dialogue and build connections for future partnerships. Accordingly, we provide refreshments for both presenters and attendees to enjoy together throughout the event.
