The Centre for Dance Research (C-DaRE) adopts a comprehensive interdisciplinary approach to dance research, spanning artistic and academic domains such as cultural heritage, computing and AI, intellectual property, health and wellness, and practice-based studies. C-DaRE organizes numerous conferences, symposia, and research events that draw participants from the UK and around the world. Our biennial Dance and Somatic Practices conference serves as a global platform for scholars and practitioners to showcase their work through curated panels, presentations, workshops, and performances. Additionally, we host the distinctive C-DaRE Invites series, where each event offers a one-of-a-kind experience co-created with staff and guest contributors. These gatherings may feature presentations, talks, discussions, practice demonstrations, performances, or film screenings, and are typically free and open to the public (unless specified otherwise). Presenters include C-DaRE affiliates, postgraduate researchers, and external guests such as artists, scholars, and organizations. Every event centers on themes tied to the invitee's ongoing research and is often scheduled around mealtimes—breakfast, lunch, or afternoon tea—to foster dialogue and collaboration over shared food and drinks.
