The Cell Signalling and Membrane Biology research theme is part of the Centre for Sport, Exercise and Life Sciences. This area investigates core molecular mechanisms to uncover new perspectives on cellular functions and their control systems.
Studies encompass receptor functions, cellular communication pathways, organism development, host-pathogen interactions, along with the molecular foundations and disease mechanisms in conditions like cancer and metabolic diseases. Research also explores signaling networks and gene regulation in both healthy and diseased states.
Our work employs diverse methodologies spanning molecular biology techniques, cellular and developmental studies, pharmacological biochemistry, advanced imaging, genetic/epigenetic analyses, and computational modeling approaches.
