Our Mathematics PhD/MPhil program offers a specialized research track across three key disciplines, allowing you to enhance global knowledge while establishing yourself as a leading mathematician. You'll pursue cutting-edge research at City in fields like representation theory, mathematical physics, or applied mathematics. Our representation theory team focuses on fundamental insights into algebraic, combinatorial, geometric, and topological frameworks. Those drawn to mathematical physics can explore quantum field theory, quantum mechanics, or string theory. The department's distinctive strength in integrable systems fosters an exceptionally unified research atmosphere. If your interests lie in applying mathematical models to biological, social, or fluid systems, you'll join our applied mathematics group, which specializes in evolutionary stable strategies, animal behavior patterns like kleptoparasitism, network/graph evolutionary models, and magnetohydrodynamics. Full-time: 2–4 years | Part-time: 3–7 years | PhD by prior publication: 1–2 years
