This distinctive MSc program enables you to become a trained Psychological Wellbeing Practitioner while qualifying for paid positions within NHS Talking Therapies services. You'll acquire expertise in evaluating and managing depression and anxiety, with options to pursue advanced research or specialized mental health studies at the master's level. The program consists of two key elements: clinical training and academic research components. The clinical training emphasizes developing assessment and treatment capabilities for common mental health issues through three in-depth modules on low-intensity cognitive behavioral therapy (LICBT).
The clinical training is enhanced by practical experience at the University's innovative Health and Well-Being Clinic, where you'll implement classroom-learned techniques under professional supervision. The program offers two pathways: either completing a dissertation or selecting two specialized modules related to Talking Therapies. The dissertation option allows you to create original research under faculty guidance, while the specialized modules - 'Leadership in Talking Therapies' and 'Working with Long-Term Health Conditions' - equip you with advanced skills for career advancement as a PWP.
Both pathways establish strong research fundamentals while deepening your understanding of mental health and applied psychology. Who is this course for
