Molecular Biosciences represents a specialized research field available within our comprehensive Biosciences research programs (PhD, MPhil, MD). This discipline examines the molecular foundations of biological processes. Our Division boasts diverse expertise across biochemistry, structural and synthetic biology, cellular biology, molecular genetics, and developmental biology. Research teams investigate various biological models such as Drosophila, yeast, Arabidopsis, tobacco, Dictyostelium, and mammalian cells, while increasingly employing post-genomic and systems biology approaches to address complex biological questions. As a dynamic, well-resourced, and collaborative Division, we offer state-of-the-art facilities for numerous experimental techniques. We maintain strong interdisciplinary connections with Chemistry in structural biology and Physics for advanced imaging technology development, alongside extensive global partnerships with academic and industrial collaborators. Our research in Molecular Biosciences generates significant contributions across multiple domains, from advancing fundamental biological knowledge to enhancing disease diagnosis and treatment, as well as creating innovative commercial technologies.
Program durations - PhD: 3-4 years, MD: 2 years, MPhil: 1-2 years
