Develop expertise in water science and leadership through our interdisciplinary MSc program, crafted to address pressing global issues and unlock varied professional opportunities. Water serves as the cornerstone of life, ecosystems, and human societies, yet sustainable water management presents critical worldwide dilemmas. Scarce freshwater resources, uneven global distribution, and climate-induced extremes like floods and droughts threaten economies, escalate tensions, and damage ecosystems, casting uncertainty on future water security. Our program prepares graduates to confront these urgent water sustainability challenges.This MSc provides comprehensive knowledge of water systems, including the hydrological cycle, climate influences, surface/subsurface water distribution, ecosystem water needs, and sustainable hazard/resource management. You'll examine water issues through the lens of environmental sustainability, gain insights into climate systems and regional climate change impacts, and acquire skills to assess water resource sustainability, process expanding global datasets, and utilize numerical modeling tools.The program's multidisciplinary approach creates career opportunities in research, international development, policymaking, and environmental consulting. Graduates will be prepared to tackle global challenges aligned with sustainable development goals and address environmental priorities at national and regional levels worldwide.
Students need to have achieved a 2:1 honours degree in a relevant subject area such as biology, earth science, economics, environmental science, geography, or hydrology, or an equivalent international degree. IELTS certificate with an overall score of 6.5 with 5.5 in all subskills, or evidence of an accepted equivalent.
