Our Bachelor of Music (BMus) program provides comprehensive training, enabling you to focus entirely on music. The first year includes foundational core and elective modules that establish a solid base for your future academic development. In your third year, you'll have the unique chance to undertake the major Recital project (similar to dissertations in other disciplines), an option only available as a minor project in our BA programs.Alongside academic coursework, we strongly encourage participation in our school's diverse performance ensembles, which cover various musical styles and traditions. These include the Jazz Ensemble, Symphonic Winds, Symphony Orchestra, Gamelan Ensemble, Chamber Choir, Chamber Orchestra, Lanyi (West African Ensemble), Symphony Chorus, and the Pop Collective.Career opportunitiesA music degree equips students with versatile skills applicable to numerous professions, both within and outside the music industry.Our alumni have secured positions with prestigious organizations like the BBC, Arts Councils, Glyndebourne Opera, English National Opera, academic institutions, Oxford University Press, the National Trust, and the London Symphony Orchestra, as well as various commercial, educational, and nonprofit entities.Our curriculum integrates employability training, teaching both music-specific competencies and transferable academic skills. Qualification Requirements

A level: AAB-BBB. Must include Music.

International Baccalaureate: 34-31 overall or 665 in 3 HL subjects. Must include grade 6 in HL Music. Applicants without HL Music will be considered on a case-by-case basis to determine appropriate levels of music performance and theory skills (such as Grade 6/7 Music Theory).

Baccalaureate Wales: From September 2023, there will be a new qualification called the Advanced Skills Baccalaureate Wales (level 3). This qualification will replace the Advanced Skills Challenge Certificate (Welsh Baccalaureate). The qualification will continue to be accepted in lieu of one A-Level (at the grades listed above), excluding any specified subjects.

GCSE - Grade C or grade 4 in GCSE English Language. IELTS (academic) - At least 6.5 overall with a minimum of 5.5 in each subskill. TOEFL iBT - At least 90 overall with a minimum of 17 for writing, 17 for listening, 18 for reading, and 20 for speaking.
