Our four-year Bachelor of Arts in Modern Chinese program is offered through a dynamic collaboration between Cardiff University and Beijing Normal University. This unique partnership allows you to master the Chinese language while gaining profound insights into China's rich cultural heritage. The curriculum explores China's social, political, historical, and cultural landscape while honing your translation abilities, professional competencies, and advanced communication skills. A highlight of this program is the immersive two-year study experience in Beijing, where you'll live and learn at the prestigious Beijing Normal University - one of China's top-tier "Double First-Class" institutions. Here, you'll receive instruction from expert native speakers while adapting to China's higher education system, fostering both academic growth and personal resilience. We offer two language tracks: an Upper Elementary pathway for students with A-level Mandarin proficiency, and an Elementary pathway for beginners. Upon graduation, you'll achieve fluency in Mandarin, capable of sophisticated written and oral communication, as well as critical analysis of complex texts in both Chinese and English. Our program emphasizes that learning Mandarin extends beyond language acquisition - it's an integrated exploration of culture and society. Through diverse, stimulating modules, we celebrate linguistic mobility and cultural understanding, preparing you to become a global citizen with valuable transferable skills. Career Opportunities: We equip you with the skills and confidence to thrive in today's competitive job market. Whether you have specific career goals or are exploring options, we provide comprehensive support. The program incorporates valuable work placements, and we regularly offer On-Campus Internships during summer breaks, allowing students to gain experience in education innovation, research projects, and professional services. Our graduates excel across various sectors, including finance, international relations, business consulting, education, media, diplomacy, law, and translation - benefiting from the versatile skills developed through their language studies.
