Why choose this program? Cardiff's English literature program has earned global recognition for its exceptional teaching and research. Our adaptable degree structure lets you explore diverse literary periods, cultures, and genres. Beyond traditional texts, we examine literature's intersections with film, art, history, technology, language, and contemporary life - perspectives that shape our curriculum. You'll discover how literature engages with social, environmental, and economic challenges to foster inclusivity and develop sustainable solutions for our planet's future. We bridge critical analysis with creative practice, offering opportunities to experiment with creative writing. Our faculty includes leading researchers who deliver cutting-edge modules. The program cultivates precise, eloquent communicators and discerning readers, preparing versatile researchers with strong collaborative and independent critical skills. Learning approach Our research-driven teaching encourages independent, creative, and analytical engagement with literature and cultural forms like film and visual arts. First-year studies build foundational skills through structured lectures and seminars. Years 2-3 progressively focus on specialization and independent research through lecture-seminar formats.
