The BSc (Hons) Biomedical Science program at Cardiff Metropolitan University holds professional accreditation from both the Institute of Biomedical Science and the Royal Society of Biology. This comprehensive course is structured to help students cultivate, synthesize, and implement scientific knowledge and skills for investigating diverse human diseases and disorders, including diabetes, cancer, and cardiovascular conditions.
Graduates of our Biomedical Science program gain qualifications suitable for various career paths such as pathology labs, research facilities, the food sector, forensic science, pharmaceutical companies, health and safety organizations, business environments, and educational institutions. Many alumni have also pursued advanced degrees, including graduate-entry programs in medicine and dentistry, along with additional professional certifications.
This program is recognized by the Royal Society of Biology, partially fulfilling the academic requirements for Membership and Chartered Biologist (CBiol) status.

Relevant subjects: Chemistry, Physics, Psychology, Physical Education, IT, Mathematics, Food Technology, Environmental Science or Geography considered as the equivalent Science. Welsh Baccalaureate Advanced Skills Challenge Certificate considered as a third subject.
BTEC National / Cambridge Technical Extended Diploma: DDM within Applied Science.
T Level: Merit in a Science subject considered.
Access to Higher Education Diploma: Within a Science subject covering sufficient Biology.
International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma: Minimum two Grade 5 in Higher Level Biology and equivalent Science.
Irish Leaving Certificate: H2 in both Biology and an equivalent Science. Higher level subjects only considered with a minimum grade H4.
Scottish Advanced Highers: Grades CC in Biology and an equivalent Science. Scottish Highers are also considered, either on their own or in combination with Advanced Highers.
