Civil engineers create, build, and maintain elements of both natural and constructed environments. Pursuing a career in civil engineering involves tackling current community challenges while preparing for future ones. The Brunel team has developed a curriculum to spark your creativity, fostering your growth as a skilled learner while preparing you to thrive in diverse engineering teams. Starting from day one, you'll experience our distinctive interdisciplinary learning method. During your first year, you'll join students from various engineering fields in our shared Engineering program. Year 2 focuses on building your civil engineering expertise in areas such as material science, structural analysis, hydraulics, and surveying. In Year 3, you can continue with the general civil engineering track or specialize in either "Environmental Engineering" or "Flood and Coastal Engineering." Between Years 2 and 3, you may opt for a placement year—an excellent chance to gain real-world experience. Placements could involve office-based design work or on-site construction roles, significantly boosting your post-graduation employment prospects.
