A Master's by Research (MRes) program enables students to pursue a research-based degree by completing a Master's-level research project evaluated through thesis submission and an oral examination. This program offers the opportunity to investigate a particular research topic of personal interest, with the Faculty of Media & Communication providing access to distinguished scholars, Bournemouth University's technical infrastructure, and research materials. Students will join BU's postgraduate community and benefit from comprehensive research, professional, and personal development training available through the Doctoral College and their academic department. Cross-disciplinary collaboration is highly encouraged, and the MRes allows students to collaborate with supervisors from diverse fields to produce meaningful research outcomes. The full-time program has a minimum duration of 12 months, extendable to 18 months, while part-time study requires at least 24 months, with an option to extend to 36 months for completion.
