Recent data indicates a significant increase in the need for archaeologists across the UK, driven by growing infrastructure developments, making this an ideal moment to pursue this program at BU. This qualification is one of the pioneering courses to earn dual accreditation from both the Chartered Institute for Archaeologists (CIfA), the premier professional organization for archaeologists in the UK and internationally, and the University Archaeology UK group (UAUK). Opting for an accredited program is commonly viewed as the initial milestone toward achieving professional recognition. You can select either a BA or BSc pathway, depending on your preference for arts-focused or science-oriented studies. All students complete identical first-year modules, allowing seamless transitions between degree tracks. Develop into a proficient expert trained in comprehensive landscape surveying, remote sensing, excavation techniques, and documentation methods. Gain knowledge through specialized lectures, interactive seminars, and diverse hands-on fieldwork experiences throughout the UK. Participate in either a five-week or extended 30-week work placement, with potential opportunities to join excavations conducted by our dynamic archaeology team. Engage in BU's Field School program, featuring large-scale excavations where students have unearthed groundbreaking artifacts that reshape historical understanding. Within just over a year after graduation, 80% of our alumni secure employment or continue their education.
