The visual effects sector represents a rapidly growing multi-billion-pound industry both in the UK and worldwide, with increasing demand for qualified professionals. As visual effects become more integral to film, television, and gaming productions, so does the need for talented individuals capable of realizing these digital creations. Throughout this program, you'll acquire comprehensive technical, artistic, and production competencies to prepare for various career paths. The curriculum covers multiple disciplines including 3D modeling, character rigging, animation, physics simulations, lighting techniques, rendering processes, and digital compositing - offering extensive areas for specialization. Training occurs in advanced facilities featuring a Vicon Motion Capture studio, high-performance workstations, professional-grade software like Maya, Nuke, and Houdini, plus one of the UK's most expansive permanent green screen studios. The course emphasizes interdisciplinary teamwork through collaborative projects, mirroring real-world production environments. Specialized modules including 'Industry Project', 'Collaborative Practice', and 'Virtual Production' cultivate the professional teamwork abilities essential for visual effects careers. Instruction comes from seasoned educators with extensive backgrounds in visual effects and broader computer graphics fields, including professionals with direct industry experience and those engaged in ongoing innovation with commercial partners.
Standard offer: 112 UCAS Tariff points. A Level / AS Level: A Level: 112 UCAS Tariff points / BBC (or equivalent) and AS Level: Must be in a different subject to A Levels. Pearson BTEC (Diploma / Extended Diploma/ Extended Certificate): 112 UCAS Tariff points. Access to HE Diploma: Pass with 60 credits, 45 credits at level 3. Scottish Higher / Advanced Higher: 112 UCAS Tariff points from three Advanced Highers (CCD) or two Advanced Highers (CD) plus two Highers (CC). International Baccalaureate Diploma: Obtain a minimum of 28 points overall. In addition to the academic entry requirements listed above, international and EU students will also require IELTS 6.0 overall with no less than 5.5 in each band.
