The BSc (Hons) Biomedical Science with Foundation Year program is carefully structured to facilitate your transition into university-level Life Sciences education. During your level 3 Foundation Year, you'll gain essential knowledge and skills that form the groundwork for your degree studies and future career in higher education. The foundation curriculum focuses on cultivating crucial academic, interpersonal, and professional competencies needed for successful degree-level work. Upon successfully finishing your foundation year, you'll automatically advance to the first year of the BSc (Hons) Biomedical Science program, with potential options to transfer to other Health Sciences degrees depending on availability and meeting specific entry criteria. Biomedical Science integrates key disciplines like physiology, biochemistry, microbiology, and genetics, playing vital roles in healthcare, medical research, and pharmaceutical industries. This program provides comprehensive knowledge of human biology in both healthy and diseased states, along with disease diagnosis and treatment approaches. You'll develop valuable critical thinking and problem-solving abilities while gaining hands-on laboratory experience in our modern facilities. Your final year will feature an independent Research Project where you'll conduct supervised experiments. 80 UCAS Tariff points. In addition to the A Level, BTEC and other level 3 requirements below, applicants for this course also need GCSE English Language or English Literature and GCSE Maths at grade C/4 or above. If you do not have these or are not undertaking them, we accept other level 2 equivalents, or we may ask you to pass BCU's GCSE equivalency tests. A Level: 112 UCAS Tariff points from three A Levels and Grades BBC (or equivalent). Pearson BTEC (Diploma / Extended Diploma/ Extended Certificate): 112 UCAS tariff points. Access to HE Diploma: Pass with 60 credits, 45 credits at level 3. Irish Leaving Certificate (Highers): Minimum of 112 UCAS tariff points, achieved in five Higher level subjects and Scottish Higher / Advanced Higher: 112 UCAS tariff points from three Advanced Highers (CCD) or two Advanced Highers (CD) plus two Highers (CC). International Baccalaureate Diploma: Obtain a minimum of 28 points overall. Students will also require IELTS 7.0 overall with no less than 6.5 in each band. TOEFL iBT - 95 (reading - 24, Listening - 22, Speaking - 25 and writing - 24).
