Our MPhil/PhD program in Journalism and Communication encourages applicants to propose research exploring journalistic and communication aspects of agenda-setting, urban environments, conflicts, ethical considerations, media ownership structures, misinformation/disinformation, professional ideologies, racial issues, and related subjects.

The MPhil/PhD represents an advanced research degree demanding original investigation culminating in a significant dissertation. MPhil theses must not exceed 60,000 words, while PhD dissertations are capped at 100,000 words. The program also accommodates practice-based PhD projects, with specific requirements tailored to each research project's nature through consultation with admissions tutors. Both MPhil and PhD degrees culminate in a viva voce examination for assessment.
