Become part of the expanding research community in Journalism Studies at Sussex, where you'll investigate journalism's methods, political dimensions, and societal influence across diverse settings. Our expert faculty will mentor and support you through your research journey. We especially encourage proposals focusing on: news reporting, political communication, military journalism, intelligence journalism, investigative reporting, and media's role in social movements.
Pursue either a PhD or MPhil degree, with programs differing in length and research scope.

A PhD requires your research to significantly advance knowledge in your selected field.
An MPhil involves independent research with a narrower focus than a PhD, culminating in a Master of Philosophy degree. You may have the option to upgrade to a PhD during your MPhil studies.
