Applied linguistics focuses on examining real-world situations where language is a key factor. In the MPhil/PhD program, we help you evolve into an independent academic researcher, equipped to present findings both verbally and in written form while advancing knowledge in the field. This autonomy is cultivated through rigorous scholarship, involving innovative thinking, proper citation practices, methodological rigor, and transparent reporting.
After mastering both general and specialized research techniques, you'll explore your specific academic interests with guidance from your supervisor, supplemented by regular seminars and presentations designed for MPhil/PhD candidates.

A good research proposal will also be required.
If English is not your first language or you have not previously studied in English, our usual requirement is the equivalent of an International English Language Testing System (IELTS Academic Test) score of 6.5, with not less than 6.0 in each of the sub-tests.
