Birkbeck's BA Philosophy program invites you to examine timeless philosophical questions alongside contemporary viewpoints about human existence. What defines morality and justice? Is consciousness merely biological matter? What advantages do democratic systems hold over authoritarian rule? How do we understand concepts of free will and divinity? Who determines aesthetic values?
This philosophy program features instruction from nationally recognized scholars dedicated to education. We foster an inclusive, encouraging academic atmosphere with an emphasis on cooperative learning through dialogue and discourse. Many courses employ team-teaching approaches, allowing students to benefit from diverse faculty perspectives - a distinctive feature among philosophy programs.
